Fearlessly Living Friday- Deep and Wide
Ephesians 3:16-19
I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ

Take some time and let the words wash over you and praise God for how deep His love for us truly is
Children in Sunday School are often taught the song, “Deep and Wide” which talks about a fountain flowing deep and wide. That fountain is God’s love and it is flowing deeper and wider than we can ever imagine. As a child, the song was fun to sing, but as I reflect back on it today, it is incomprehensible to know just how wide, long, high, and deep is the love of Christ, but I know that His love for me is greater than any love I have ever experienced here on earth.
As you go about your day, ask yourself, are you rooted and established in God’s love? What does that mean? If you are, how has that impacted your life? Have you gained the power to grasp how wide, long, high, and deep is the love of Christ? If you aren’t, what is standing in your way? Have you gone to Christ about this? What stops you from being rooted and established in God’s love and more importantly, what are you going to do about it?

An Aramean army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city where Elisha was and his servant was afraid. His servant asked Elisha what they were going to do and Elisha responded, ‘”Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered, “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”‘ However, Elisha’s servant didn’t see it. What he saw was that they were surrounded by the enemy. Only after Elisha prayed, did his servant see the “hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”

Dictionary.com defines “grace” as “(in Christian belief) the free and unmerited favor of God, as manifested in the salvation of sinners and the bestowal of blessings.” God’s grace is free and unmerited. In Ephesians 2:9 it goes on to say “not by works, so that no one can boast.” God’s grace cannot be earned and we do not deserve it. Yet, God does not stop at just giving us grace, which would have been enough, but he also bestows blessings on those who have been saved through faith. He knows no end. That’s the beauty of this verse and this worship song. Take your time and reflect on the grace God has given to you. Reflect on the blessings He has given you. How has He blessed you? What have you done to deserve God’s blessings? The same God who created everything wonderful in this universe, created every living creature, and every beauty chose to bless you! He chose you! Let that sink in and spend time throughout your day and remember just how unstoppable God is. Live accordingly.
When you read today’s verse, do you believe it? Do you believe that you can do all this through Him who gives you strength? For me, I have that verse memorized and recite it when times are easy but I forgot about it when times are difficult. When I feel the world telling me I am not enough or that I cannot do something, I forget that if God calls me to do something, I can do it through His strength. In times of trouble, I am learning to not see myself the way the world does, but how God does. It is not how we value ourselves, but rather, how God values us. In a world of social media and so many other things, it is important to remind ourselves that our value comes from our Lord.
